Olivia Rodrigo took time away from her own busy music schedule to attend a My Chemical Romance concert, bringing together two generations of alternative rock and pop music.

The singer shared a glimpse of the experience on Instagram on October 28, showing her enjoying the band’s performance of material from its influential 2006 album The Black Parade.

The concert comes as both artists are making headlines for their chart activity.

Rodrigo’s third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, has spent three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The project recently received additional attention following the release of an Expectations remix featuring Chappell Roan.

Meanwhile, My Chemical Romance released a 20th-anniversary edition of The Black Parade on October 23, featuring bonus tracks and live recordings.

The original album reached No. 2 in 2006, making the anniversary release another significant moment in the band’s history.

With both artists enjoying renewed attention, their latest chart activity highlights the continued connection between contemporary pop and alternative rock.
